What are floating licenses and how to install/uninstall them

What is a Floating License?

Floating licenses are shared licenses installed on a central server in your company. The floating licenses work by allowing the clients (Ecrion Design Studio, XF Designer) to connect to the server and get a lease on one or more licenses for a limited period of time (usually 1 hour), after which they have to renew the lease again.

How to install/uninstall a Floating License

Before you get started installing your license you will need to be sure to download and install the latest version of the Enterprise License Manager "ELM" which can be found in the downloads tab of your customer portal here: https://accounts.ecrion.com/Default.aspx

After you have successfully downloaded and installed the ELM, you will be able to start installing your floating license. There are two parts to installing a Floating License, one that will need to be completed on the server, and one that will need to take place on the client machine.

Installing your license on the ELM Server:

5. You will have to select a method of activating your license. Select the “online” method if you have a proper connection to the internet. Offline activation is available for machines that cannot communicate with Ecrion Servers or are offline.
