How to add a DataBase (IMDB) to the Management Console

In order to add a new database to the Management Console, please follow these steps:


Define the DataBase:

- Open the Data Modeler application, part of the Ecrion Design Studio suite
- From the displayed wizard, choose the "BI In-memory analytics" (IMDB) option and then the "Finish" button
- From the "Home" tab, select the "Databases" button in order to display the "Databases" pane
- From the "Databases" opened pane, select the "Add Connection" button and choose the "Database Connection" option
- Add the required data in order to define a connection to your database, then "Save" the changes
- From the "Insert" tab you can add a query or from the "Database" pane you can drag and drop a table
- Aggregate and customize your data in order to obtain the requested output
- Save the .EDM diagram file

 

Setting up the IMDB in the BI Server:

- Open the Management Console
- Expand Server Manager->Configuration->Ecrion BI Server
- Access the "In-Memory Databases" section and select the "New" button
- Define the name and path to the .EDM file
- Select the "OK" button to apply the changes

 

Connecting to the IMDB:

- Open the BI Architect application, part of the Ecrion Design Studio suite
- From the displayed wizard, choose the "Use existing IMDB" option and then the "Next" button
- In the "Configure Data" section, provide the BI Server URL, username and password for the server. You can connect using the "Guest" account only if it is enabled in the Management Console, under the BI Server -> Security -> Users section
- Select the "Next" button if you want to preview the data. Otherwise, select the "Finish" button and start designing your dashboard.
