Working with Parameters in Subdocuments

This article describes how to pass a parameter when you call a subdocument in your template.

In order to do that, you have to keep in mind the following:

  • Defining the parameter in the Subdocument

- Go to the "Developer" tab

- Select the "Manage Parameters" button

- From the "Parameters" pane opened, select the "Add new parameter" button

- Add the parameter "name" and "value"

 

- Select the "Insert" button to finish the operation

 

  • Using the parameter in the Subdocument

- Go to the "Insert" tab

- From the "Dynamic" section, select the "Field" button

- From the new pane opened, select the "Create Expression" button

- Select the "Add parameter" button, and choose your parameter

 

- Select the "Insert" button to finish the operation

 

  • Adding the Subdocument with a Parameter

In the main template you can override the parameter defined in the subdocument.

- From the main template, select the "Insert" tab

- Select the "Subdocument" button

- Choose the subdocument and then select the "Manage Parameters" section

- From the new pane opened, select the "Add parameter" button 

- Add the same name as in the subdocument in order to override that parameter, and a new value for it

- Select the "Apply" button and then the "Insert" button in order to finish the operation
